Having blackheads is one of those things in life like acne that makes you sigh when you look into the mirror. Those teeny tiny spots on your face just won’t go away and your self esteem drops. We know the feeling too well. Blackheads suck, so let’s get rid of them!

The common cause of blackheads is when a clog is formed in the opening of hair follicles. Each follicle contains one hair and a sebaceous gland that produces oil, called sebum, which helps keep your skin soft. Dead skin cells and oils collect in the opening to the skin follicle, producing a bump called a comedone.

Blackheads can lead to pimples and large pores, things we don’t want on our face! Here are our 5 best tips:

1. Always remove makeup!

Makeup clogs pores which caused problems for your skin. Your skin needs to breath and when it is clogged with makeup and bacteria it will cause visible problems on the skin surface as well as below the skin's surface.  

2. Stop touching your face.

Your hands transfer bacteria when you touch your face, so keep your hands down, especially if they’re not clean! 

3. Exercise and sweat it out!

Perspiring rids your body of dirt and toxins and also helps to push out anything clogging your pores. Remember to wash your face immediately after a work out to avoid your pores clogging up even more!

4. Exfoliate.

Exfoliating regularly really helps to unclog your pores and flush out any bacteria and dead skin cells. This is very important when you want to achieve clear, healthy, smooth skin.

5. Use a good toner.

Using a good quality toner helps to sooth, heal and further clean out your skin. Get one that helps to tighten and remove any residue on the skin after washing.
